Replace [bracketed text] with your app's details. Keep responses short — two to four sentences is ideal.

Bug Report

When a user reports a bug

Thank you for reporting this. We've identified the issue with [specific feature] and our team is working on a fix. We expect to release an update within [timeframe]. If you'd like to share more details, reach out at [support email] — it helps us resolve it faster.

When to use: The reviewer describes a specific bug, crash, or broken feature. Acknowledge the issue, give a timeline if possible, and offer a direct channel for follow-up.

Feature Request

When a user requests a feature

Great idea! We're tracking this request and it's on our radar for a future update. We prioritize features based on user feedback, so your input genuinely helps shape [App Name]. Stay tuned — and thank you for taking the time to share this.

When to use: The reviewer suggests a new feature or improvement. Be honest about whether it's planned. Don't promise what you can't deliver.

Praise

When a user leaves a positive review

Thank you for the kind words! We're glad [App Name] is working well for you. Reviews like yours help other users find us — and they motivate the team to keep improving. If you ever have suggestions, we're all ears.

When to use: A 4 or 5-star review with positive feedback. Keep it brief and genuine. Don't ask for anything — they already gave you a great review.

Negative Review

When a user is frustrated

We're sorry about your experience with [App Name]. This isn't the standard we aim for. Could you reach out to us at [support email] with more details? We'd like to understand what went wrong and make it right. Your feedback is helping us improve.

When to use: A 1 or 2-star review with frustration or disappointment. Apologize without being defensive. Move the conversation to a private channel where you can resolve it.

Rating Only

When a user leaves a rating but no text

Thank you for the rating. If you'd like to share more details about your experience with [App Name], we'd love to hear them — you can update your review or reach out at [support email]. Every bit of feedback helps us improve.

When to use: A low rating (1-3 stars) with no written review. Gently invite them to share more. For 4-5 star ratings without text, responding is usually unnecessary.

Update Follow-up

After you've fixed an issue they reported

We've fixed the issue you mentioned in version [X.Y.Z], available now. The [specific fix] should resolve what you experienced. We appreciate you taking the time to report it — your feedback directly improved [App Name] for everyone.

When to use: After releasing an update that addresses a specific review. Going back to tell the reviewer is one of the most effective ways to turn a negative review into a positive one.

Best practices

The do's and don'ts of review replies

A good reply shows you're listening. A bad reply makes things worse. Keep these guidelines in mind when responding to App Store and Google Play reviews.

  • Do respond within 24-48 hours — speed shows you care
  • Do acknowledge the specific issue they raised
  • Do keep it short — two to four sentences maximum
  • Do follow up after fixing reported bugs
  • Don't copy-paste the same reply to every review — it looks automated
  • Don't get defensive or argue with negative reviewers
  • Don't promise features or timelines you can't commit to
  • Don't ask for a rating change — it violates App Store guidelines

Common questions

About review response templates and replying to reviews.

Get in touch
Are these review response templates free to use?
Yes. All templates on this page are free to copy, customize, and use for your App Store and Google Play review responses. No sign-up required.
Should I reply to every app review?
No. Prioritize bug reports, negative reviews, and feature requests — those are the reviews where your response has the most impact. For positive reviews, a short thank-you is appreciated but not mandatory. AppTriage's AI categorization helps you focus on the reviews that matter most.
How long should a review response be?
Short. Two to four sentences is ideal. Acknowledge the feedback, explain what you're doing about it, and invite them to reach out if needed. Long responses feel like corporate boilerplate.
Can I reply to reviews directly from AppTriage?
Yes. You can reply to form feedback via email directly from your AppTriage inbox. App Store and Google Play review replies are planned for a future release. All feedback — reviews and form submissions — lives in one place.
Does AppTriage categorize reviews automatically?
Yes. AppTriage uses AI to auto-categorize every review as a bug report, feature request, praise, or other. This helps you pick the right template and prioritize which reviews to respond to first — bugs and complaints before praise.
Can I use these templates for Google Play reviews too?
Yes. These templates work for both App Store and Google Play reviews. The tone and structure apply to any app store. Just customize the specific details for your app.
